About the Initiative

Rainbow Connections is a transformative program that fosters a sense of belonging, radical acceptance, and inclusion for 2SLGBTQIA+ youth in Southwestern Ontario. By providing a safe space, Rainbow Connections empowers these young individuals to build meaningful connections and peer relationships within their communities. Aligned with the Gender Equality Coalition of Ontario's (GECO) mission, the program is intentionally intersectional and inclusive in all its initiatives, ensuring that every youth feels valued and supported. Rainbow Connections fosters safe and inclusive spaces that promote radical acceptance, connection, and personal growth for trans and 2SLGBTQIA+ youth, enabling them to build meaningful relationships and thrive within their communities.

About GECO Non-profit

The Gender Equality Coalition of Ontario believes in collaboration and community, intentional inclusion, equal access, and active participation in social change.

We envision a community where all genders share the burdens, responsibilities, and rewards of our institutions and systems in order to have equal status in our society.

We aim to create networks and share knowledge and training between 2SLGBTQIA+ and other organizations.

We amplify the work of other organizations doing great work.

We advocate for increasing access to services for trans and non-binary people.

We promote the inclusion and well-being of gay, lesbian, racialized, refugee, and newcomer communities.

We work to build links between 2SLGBTQIA+ communities and Non-2SLGBTQIA+ communities to remove barriers For 2SLGBTQiA+

We challenge gender, sex, and sexuality related systemic barriers.

We confront sexist thinking and internalized oppressions.

We practice critical self reflection.

We raise consciousness and expectations.

We identify and challenge exclusions, gender, sexuality, and sex norms and stereotypes.

We want to end sexism, exploitation, and oppression in all its forms.
